Flaky, mitten-shaped pastries filled with cozy spiced apples, ideal for warming winter treats and festive moments.

# What You'll Need:

→ Pastry

01 - 2 sheets ready-made puff pastry (approximately 17.6 oz), thawed if frozen
02 - 1 large egg, beaten (for egg wash)

→ Apple Filling

03 - 2 medium apples, peeled, cored, and diced
04 - 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
05 - 1 tablespoon brown sugar
06 - ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
07 - ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
08 - 1 teaspoon lemon juice
09 - 1 teaspoon cornstarch

→ Decoration (Optional)

10 - Pearl sugar or coarse sanding sugar
11 - Icing made from powdered sugar mixed with a little milk

# Method:

01 - Preheat oven to 400°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
02 - Toss diced apples with granulated sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon juice, and cornstarch in a medium bowl. Set aside.
03 - Roll out puff pastry sheets on a lightly floured surface. Using a mitten-shaped cookie cutter or a paper template with a sharp knife, cut 16 mitten shapes.
04 - Place 8 pastry mittens on the prepared baking sheet. Spoon a heaping tablespoon of apple filling onto the center of each, leaving a border around the edges.
05 - Brush edges of the pastry with beaten egg. Top each with a second mitten-shaped pastry cutout and press edges gently with a fork to seal.
06 - Brush the tops with egg wash. Optionally, sprinkle with pearl or sanding sugar for added crunch.
07 - Cut a small vent on top of each pie using a knife. Bake for 20 to 22 minutes until golden brown and puffed.
08 - Allow pies to cool slightly. If desired, drizzle with prepared icing for decoration.
